Designated Stroke Centers
Every second is important when you or someone you know is experiencing a stroke. If you believe you or someone around you is experiencing a stroke, call 911 immediately.
A Primary Stroke Center is where patients are advised to go first and receive stroke care when experiencing warning signs such as speech difficulty, facial drooping and arm weakness. Primary Stroke Center designation is measured on improvement performance and recognizes hospitals that meet national guidelines and manage care for quality outcomes of stroke care. This means having staff that quickly assess and treat a stroke patient with the utmost care possible, which improves recovery.
