Troponin Test

The troponin test evaluates the amount of proteins named troponin I and troponin T in blood. These proteins proliferate when the heart muscle is injured, as in the case of a heart attack. The greater the heart is injured, a larger amount of troponin I and troponin T is present in blood. This blood test is given to see if chest pain is from a heart attack. The test may be repeated several times over a period of time. The test can also be conducted if an individual has angina and to diagnose other heart damage.
