Truncus Arteriosus Surgery

Truncus arteriosus is a rare heart condition occuring at birth. A blood vessel comes out of the left and right ventricles instead of the aorta and pulmonary artery.

This condition is treated by surgery where a single "trunk" leaving the heart is used at the aorta. A tube is used as a conduit to connect the right side of the heart to the pulmonary arteries.
