Double Outlet Right Ventricle DORV Surgery

Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) Surgery

A double outlet right ventricle (DORV) is condition at birth where the aorta rises from the right ventricle instead of the left ventricle. The left ventricle is the normal pumping chamber to the body.

The surgery for DORV depends on whether there are other heart defects and their severity. If there are no other abnormalities, the surgeon can route blood from the left ventricle through a tunnel to restore normal circulation.

If other abnormalities are present, different surgery methods must be considered.
