Barium Enema

A barium enema is an X-ray of the large intestine. It uses a lubricated enema tube inserted into an individual's rectum. A contrast dye is used to create a precise image of the large intestine. The test can help in finding signs of colon cancer, colitis or Chrohn's disease. It can also help in identifying the cause of diarrhea, bloody or black tarry stools, or constipation.
