Craniosynostosis Repair

Craniosynostosis is when the bones of a child's skull grow together too soon. A baby's skull is made of many bones. Connections between these bones are called sutures. The sutures need to be slightly open to allow the baby's brain to grow. In craniosynostosis, the baby's sutures close too early. This causes the baby's head to be misshaped. Surgery opens the sutures and corrects the shape of the skull, brow and eye sockets. This surgery takes pressure off the baby's brain, enables the skull to grow properly and improves the appearance of the child's head.
