Liver Cancer - The liver is one of the largest body organs. It has four lobes, is inside the rib cage and fills the upper right side of the abdomen. The liver filters harmful substances from the blood so they can be passed from the body as urine and stools. It produces bile to digest fat from food and stores sugar that the body uses for energy. Liver cancer is when cancer cells form in the tissues of the liver. One type of liver cancer, hepatoblastoma, does not spread outside the liver. Another type, hepatocellular carcinoma, spreads from the liver to other parts of the body.
