Trancranial Magnet Stimulation TMS for Major Depression

Trancranial Magnet Stimulation (TMS) for Major Depression

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is clinically proven and FDA-approved for the treatment of major depression in adults not achieving satisfactory improvement with prior antidepressant medication. The treatment is nonsystemic (does not circulate in the bloodstream throughout the body) and noninvasive (does not involve surgery). TMS is a form of neuromodulation delivering highly-focused MRI-strength magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in an area of the brain that is linked to depression. TMS therapy has been demonstrated to be effective and safe in clinical trials.
