St. Anthony’s Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program

The BayCare Internal Medicine Residency program at St. Anthony’s Hospital is a community-care focused training program that provides a wide range of exceptional health care services to families in the community.

As a new program, there are many opportunities to be innovative. We encourage residents to think creatively and engage in lateral thinking while in training. Program leadership welcomes new ideas for program design, structure, and continuous improvement.

Program leadership believes in strong mentorship; thus, committed faculty work closely and directly with the residents to develop autonomy, learning and foster opportunities for lifelong relationships in internal medicine. Residents will be assigned a mentor who they work closely with during their three years of training. However, we encourage residents to select additional advisors based on their needs and interests.

Residents are encouraged to work in tandem with peers and faculty to advance their medical knowledge through scholarly activity and research opportunities. By collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, engaging in quality improvement projects, and presenting at national, state, or regional meetings, residents are empowered to be health care innovators and champions.

The program also strongly believes in resident well-being. It is necessary that we care for ourselves to ensure the best care for the patients we serve. The program provides education and awareness on various topics not only to residents, but to faculty as well. Through social events, conferences, online resources, and incentive programs, St. Anthony’s Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to fostering and maintaining health equity for all in Graduate Medical Education learning environments.

We pride ourselves on the overall quality of the program and are dedicated to its success. We believe heavily in the train-to-retain model and the many fulfilling career opportunities across our network of top-performing not-for-profit hospitals, and out-patient centers.
