BayCare to Host Symposium Focused on COVID-19 for Local Employers

September 03, 2021

BayCare will host its annual Employer Symposium on Sept. 30, bringing local employers together to focus on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

During the virtual event, attendees will discuss how they’re operating in the midst of COVID and the challenges they face in a pandemic environment.

“We’re looking forward to bringing local community leaders virtually together to discuss COVID-19,” said Donna St. Louis, vice president of business development at BayCare. “Just as some businesses were heading back to a new normal, an outbreak spurred new concerns as hospitals became overwhelmed. We hope this event will provide useful information about how leaders can best protect the health, safety and well-being of their employees.”

During the symposium, Dr. Nishant Anand, chief medical officer at BayCare, will discuss BayCare’s current state on COVID. He also will describe the health system’s response to the pandemic, and provide information on vaccines, testing and treatment. In addition, Dr. Harold Levine, chief medical officer for BayCare Behavioral Health, will talk about the effect of the pandemic on people’s emotional well-being during this challenging time and beyond.

Guest speaker John Tiliacos, executive vice president operations and customer service at Tampa International Airport, will highlight how the airport is dealing with the pandemic and discuss its collaboration with BayCare to provide access to COVID testing to passengers from Oct. 2020 to May 2021.

"We were proud to work with local partners like TPA to expand access to COVID-19 testing when other options were limited," St. Louis said. "During that time, we tested more than 21,000 passengers for COVID. This helped identify travelers infected with the virus and mitigate any potential spread in airports and planes."

As one of the largest health systems in the region, BayCare has supported the community during these challenging times. From the start, BayCare has provided access to high-quality care, testing, vaccines as all as become a trusted adviser for COVID information.

In addition, BayCare’s Employer Solutions team has worked with large corporations and small businesses across the region to maintain a safe and healthy workplace. They’ve provided on-site, safe-work assessments, testing and return to work evaluations for employees.

The 2021 Employer Symposium will be held virtually on Thursday, Sept. 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
