Some Winter Haven Womens Hospital Services Temporarily Relocated

Winter Haven, Fla., (September 22, 2017) – Due to damage from Hurricane Irma, the Winter Haven Women’s Hospital will continue to provide services using space at Winter Haven Hospital.
Patients and staff were moved from the Women’s Hospital to the main hospital as a precaution on the Friday before Hurricane Irma came through Florida. The Emergency Response team for the Winter Haven hospitals decided a relocation would be best for our patients, families, physicians, and team members.
Post-storm assessments of the Women’s Hospital found damage caused by water intrusion. Crews have already started repair work, and we expect them to be complete by mid- to late October.
Until then, patient services will be provided at Winter Haven Hospital. These services include: labor and delivery, mother baby, neonatal care, ophthalmology surgery and gynecological surgery. The Breast and Imaging Center and the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic have resumed normal operations at the Women’s Hospital.
Scheduled obstetrical patients should present to the Patient Access desk in the front lobby of Winter Haven Hospital’s main entrance. Obstetrical patients needing evaluation should go to the Winter Haven Hospital Emergency Room, and patients preparing for ophthalmology or gynecological surgery should get admitting directions from their surgeon.
Classes or events scheduled at the Women’s Hospital during the repair work will be conducted at the main hospital. The one exception are the Birth Center Tours, which have been cancelled until the repairs are complete. Check BayCareEvents.org for confirmation of class times and locations.
Lactation consultation appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8am to 9pm by calling (863) 294-7086. Donations to the breast milk bank depot cannot be received until the repairs are complete.
