Who Is a Candidate for Skull Base Surgery?

Adults and adolescents with skull base and brain tumors including pituitary tumors, meningiomas, inverted papiloma, acoustic neuromas, craniopharyngiomas, sinus cancers (e.g., squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, melanoma, sarcoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma {SNUC}, esthesioneuroblastoma, etc.), hemangiopericytoma, chordomas, schwannomas, (Juvenile) angiofibromas -- and other benign tumors that extend to and through the skull base.

We offer the following innovative procedures at St. Anthony's Minimally Invasive Skull Base Center:

• Minimally invasive, endonasal transsphenoidal pituitary surgery (without facial incisions or nasal packing) using endoscopic techniques
• Second opinions and follow-up evaluations
• Evaluation and Management of :
• Benign and malignant neoplasms of the nasal and sinus cavities and nasopharnyx
• Meningiomas involving the orbit, frontal fossa, sphenoid wings and cavernous sinus
• Other tumors of the orbit and cavernous sinus
• Metastatic lesions to the skull base and paranasal sinuses (i.e. breast, renal, prostate, etc.)
• Bone tumors including osteoma, chordoma, chondrosarcoma and fibrous dysplasia
• Pituitary and other tumors of the sella turcica
• Craniofacial vascular malformations
• Traumatic or neoplastic compression of the optic nerve
• Acoustic neuromas
• Other tumors of the cerebellopontine angle and jugular foramen including meningiomas, schwannomas and glomus tumors
• Cranial nerve neoplasms
• Osteoradionecrosis
• Developmental and congenital abnormalities including basilar impression and Chiari malformation
• Vascular lesions including aneurysms, angiomas and arteriovenous malformations
• Cerebrospinal fluid leak
• Post-traumatic reconstruction
