Meet the Physicians
David R. Babin, M.D.
Dr. Babin is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in Nuclear Medicine. After completing his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Dr. Babin completed a Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He received his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas and his undergraduate degree at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
Matthew H. Berlet, M.D.
After graduating with his Doctorate of Medicine from New Jersey Medical School in 1986, Dr. Berlet went on to complete a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at New England Deaconess Hospital and a Fellowship in Neuroradiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Radiology, and he has earned added qualifications in Neuroradiology and Vascular Interventional Radiology from the American Board of Radiology. Along with currently serving as the Medical Director of Radiology for St. Joseph's Hospital, Dr. Berlet also serves as an article reviewer for the American Journal of Neuroradiology. Dr. Berlet joined SDI Radiologists in 1993.
Daniel Bodor, M.D.
Dr. Bodor is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in MRI and Musculoskeletal imaging. He serves as the Medical Director of MRI at St. Joseph's Hospital and is the primary Musculoskeletal MRI specialist for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team. He is also a primary MRI consultant to Major League Baseball teams training in the Tampa Bay area. After completing his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Dr. Bodor completed a Fellowship in MRI under Dr. Stephen Pomeranz at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his Medical Degree at the University of Cincinnati and his undergraduate degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Timothy A. Bonsack, M.D.
Dr. Bonsack graduated from Emory University in 1983 with his Doctorate in Medicine. After a Residency in Pediatrics at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center he served overseas in the U.S. Army as a Pediatrician. Dr. Bonsack went on to complete a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Emory University followed by Fellowships in Pediatric Radiology at Egleston Children's Hospital at Emory University and also at Boston Children's Hospital at Harvard Medical School. He is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Radiology, and has earned a certificate of added qualifications in Pediatric Radiology. His major role in SDI is Pediatric Radiology. Dr. Bonsack has been with SDI Radiologists since 1995.
S. William Carter, M.D.
Dr. Carter is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in MRI and Musculoskeletal imaging. After completing his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, Dr. Carter completed a Fellowship in MRI under Dr. Stephen Pomeranz at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his Medical Degree at the University of South Florida and his undergraduate degree at Emory University.
Elaine D. Engelman, M.D.
Dr. Engelman has been with SDI Radiologists since 1987. After receiving her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1982, Dr. Engelman completed a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Oklahoma and a Fellowship in MRI at the University of South Florida. Dr. Engelman is Board Certified, and has earned a certificate of added qualifications in Pediatric Radiology from the American Board of Radiology. Her professional interests include Mammography and Women's Imaging. Along with currently serving as the Medical Director for St. Joseph's Women's Hospital, Dr. Engelman served as past Medical Director for St. Joseph's Diagnostic Center.
Tracy L. Halme, M.D.
Dr. Halme graduated from the University of South Florid a in 1995 with her Doctorate in Medicine. Dr. Halme went on to complete a Residency in Radiology followed by a Fellowship in Women's Imaging at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She is certified by the American Board of Radiology. Her major role with SDI is in the area of Women's Imaging.
James S. Hanner, M.D.
Dr. Hanner is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in Neuroradiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. After completing his Residency at the University of Florida, Dr. Hanner completed a Fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of Virginia. Dr. Hanner has previously served and currently serves as Medical Director of Radiology for Town & Country Hospital.
Stephen J. Kennedy, M.D.
After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1989 with his Doctorate in Medicine, Dr. Kennedy went on to complete a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Florida and another Residency in Nuclear Medicine at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Kennedy is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Radiology with special competency in Nuclear Medicine. He is also certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. He currently serves as Medical Director for St. Joseph's Diagnostic Center and Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine for St. Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Kennedy joined SDI Radiologists in 1994. His professional interests include Nuclear Medicine.
Steven M. Mandel, M.D.
Dr. Mandel is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in Neuroradiology. He received his medical degree from Autonomous University Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico and his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. After completing his Radiology Residency at the State University of New York - Stony Brook, Dr. Mandel completed a Fellowship in Neuroradiology at Emory University. Dr. Mandel has also earned a certificate of additional qualifications in Neuroradiology from the American Board of Radiology.
Patricia P. Moser, M.D.
After graduating with her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1997, Dr. Moser went on to complete a Residency in Radiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine and a Fellowship in Body Imaging at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology.
John F. Rasmussen, M.D.
Dr. Rasmussen is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Rasmussen went on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at University Hospital of Jacksonville and a Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Intervention at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He served for one year as faculty in the section of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Shands Hospital, University of Florida. Dr. Rasmussen previously served as Medical Director for SDI Radiologists, Chairman of the Department of Radiology at St. Joseph's Hospital, and President of SDI Radiologists.
George P. Shaughness, M.D.
Dr. Shaughness has been with SDI Radiologists since 1993. He graduated with his Doctorate of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in 1981. Dr. Shaughness went on to complete a Rotating Internship at Malcolm Grow USAF Medical Center, a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at David Grant USAF Medical Center, and a Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital Center. Along with being certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Shaughness currently serves as Medical Director for St. Joseph's Vascular Center. Dr. Shaughness served for 15 years in the United States Armed Forces.
Michael C. Shaw, M.D.
Dr. Shaw has been with SDI Radiologists since 1981. After graduating with his Doctorate of Medicine from the State University of New York - Downstate Medical Center in 1977, Dr. Shaw went on to complete a Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He is Board Certified and has subspecialty expertise in Pediatric Radiology. Dr. Shaw previously served as Medical Director of the Department of Radiology at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital and currently serves as President of SDI Radiology.
Gary M. Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in Pediatric Radiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina. After completing his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Dr. Smith completed additional Fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology, and he has earned a certificate of added qualifications in Pediatric Radiology.
Glenn W. Stambo, M.D.
Dr. Stambo is a Board Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise in Interventional Radiology. After completing his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut, Dr. Stambo completed a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in Worcester, Massachusetts. He received his medical degree at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.
Kelly J. VanEpps, M.D.
Dr. VanEpps graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas with his Doctorate in Medicine. After completing a Clinical Internship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin Texas, Dr. VanEpps went on to complete both his Diagnostic Radiology Residency and his Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to his medical education, Dr. VanEpps completed his undergraduate degree at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Troy A. Woeste, M.D.
Dr. Woeste graduated from the University of Florida in 1996 with his Doctorate in Medicine. Dr. Woeste went on to complete a Residency in Radiology followed by a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology also at the University of Florida. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Woeste also completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida.

Khristopher Lugo, P.A.
Khristopher Lugo graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2001 with his Masters in Medical Science. He then went on to complete a Surgical Residency at Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Mr. Lugo is certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and he has added certification in Surgery.
