Morton Plant North Bay features six sophisticated operating rooms including the first voice-activated operating room suite in Pasco County to integrate surgical device technology via voice activation and a central control system. It’s called the Stryker Endoscopy suite and it utilizes the Stryker Integrated Device Network, or SIDNE™, which is a voice-activation system capable of networking medical equipment in the operating room.

With simple verbal commands, surgeons can activate equipment, perform telesurgery, dictate notes and document findings with still pictures and/or motion video. Using an endoscope to view a patient’s anatomy through a small incision, surgeons can conduct surgery that is less invasive and significantly less traumatic for patients than conventional open surgeries. Recently, Morton Plant North Bay added a Robotic Surgical System that provides an alternative to traditional open surgery and conventional minimally invasive surgery. During a robotic procedure, the surgeon is at the controls of a state-of-the-art robotic platform. The robotic surgery system enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures with unmatched precision through very small incisions. The result is:

  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Less recovery time
  • Reduced procedural costs

For surgery patients, the sophisticated technology means surgeons can work more efficiently and effectively. In effect, doctors and operating room staff can concentrate more on providing patient care rather than manually running and moving medical equipment.
