Popular diets such as Atkins, South Beach and the Zone, all of which discourage carbohydrates and encourage consuming meat and other high-fat food, can be hazardous to your health. According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, in the long term these and other diets high in animal fat can increase the risk for cancers of the lung, colon, rectum, breast, endometrium and prostate.
