Lisa Johnson Tapped to Align Nursing Services Across BayCare

Clearwater, Fla., (July 5, 2016) – Bay Care Health System has named Lisa Johnson as its new chief nursing officer. Johnson will be responsible for leading all nursing services across BayCare.

“As we continue to work to meet the health care needs of our patients and their families, we developed the chief nursing officer position to help better align our nursing services across all care settings including hospitals, home care, ambulatory surgery and our medical offices,” said Glenn Waters, executive vice president and chief operating officer for BayCare.

“Our nursing leaders have successfully brought national best practices and processes to our hospitals. Lisa will build on that foundation by advancing progress in improving clinical outcomes, enhancing team work between nursing and medical staffs, developing our nursing leaders and advocating the professional development of our nurses,” stated Waters.

Johnson has been part of the BayCare hospitals for 28 years, serving in various nursing leadership roles including vice president of patient services at Morton Plant Mease since 1998.

“Helping our nurses grow in their profession and to share best practices across the health system is a great opportunity. I am humbled and honored to be working with our outstanding nurses throughout BayCare,” said Johnson.

“Lisa brings outstanding leadership experience and a passion for advancing the profession of nursing to this role,” said Waters.

Johnson has led several nursing innovation projects including eCare, an electronic patient monitoring system that uses remote computer monitoring technology to enhance the care of critically ill patients; BayCare’s Professional Practice Council for nursing; an electronic nurse leader rounding system; the Dr. George Morris Earn as You Learn work/study program for nursing students and the development of Patient Care Leaders for the oversight of complex patients.

An RN, Johnson holds a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Drexel University, Philadelphia; a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Florida Institute of Technology, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from St. Leo University, St. Leo, Fla.; and an Advanced Nursing Executive Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
