Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Studies

Electromyographies (EMGs) and nerve conduction studies are often conducted at the same time. An EMG tests muscle function and the nerves that help muscles to work. Nerve conduction studies monitor how quicky electrical signals are transported through a nerve. EMGs use electrodes inserted into muscle and a nerve conduction study uses electrode patches affixed to skin. EMGs provide information about muscle effectiveness while nerve conduction studies check for nerve damage or disease.
