One of the nation’s best-performing health care systems, BayCare is renowned for delivering the highest clinical excellence with extraordinary, compassionate care. BayCare is the largest not-for-profit health care system dedicated solely to the communities of West Central Florida, with primary service in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties. Here’s a look at our performance in 2023.

With a mission to improve the health of all we serve, BayCare made advances in clinical excellence, added innovations to improve the patient experience, and expanded our community benefit programs in 2023. 

Clinical Excellence

BayCare achieved straight “A” grades on patient safety from the Leapfrog Group while engaging in leading-edge research trials and delivering high-quality clinical outcomes in cardiovascular and stroke care, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology and more.

Innovative Health Care

BayCare improved the patient experience and gave providers more time to focus on patients. In 2023, BayCare implemented a range of new technologies, from hands-free clinical note-taking to investing in 25 picking robots to help team members fill hospital supply orders. 

Growing With West Central Florida

BayCare grew in 2023 to meet the needs of a growing region. The health system opened a state-of-the-art hospital in Pasco County, expanded labor and delivery units and announced plans for a new children’s hospital.

For the Community’s Benefit

BayCare worked with community partners to address food insecurity, improved access to health care and launched a behavioral health program for children. In 2023 BayCare returned more than 10 percent of revenues - $557 million – to communities in the region.
