American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

These BayCare facilities were named Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided biopsy and stereotactic biopsy. This designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR's voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines

The Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke awards recognize commitment and success in implementing excellent care for stroke patients, according to evidence-based guidelines. Many BayCare facilities participate in this program and are annually recognized for their outstanding stroke care.

American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline

BayCare facilities regularly receive this award, which recognizes the full, coordinated continuum of care from first responders to hospitals to health care providers in following best practices and proven guidelines in their treatment of patients from onset of cardiac symptoms through cardiac rehabilitation.  

Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses

The AORN Go Clear Award™ Program is a comprehensive surgical smoke-free recognition program for facilities who want to ensure a smoke-free environment.

Baby-Friendly Designation

• Morton Plant Hospital
• Mease Countryside Hospital 

Both hospitals have been designated with "Baby-Friendly" status from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Baby Friendly hospitals have implemented specific steps to support successful breastfeeding.

Bariatric Center of Excellence: American College of Surgeons and American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery

DNV GL Healthcare Acute Stroke Ready Certification

Bardmoor Emergency Center, Bartow Regional Medical Center, and BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel received certification from DNV GL Healthcare as Acute Stroke Ready (ASR) Centers, reflecting their ability to diagnose, stabilize, treat and transfer most patients with stroke. As an ASR, these facilities have the staff and resources to care for acute stroke including administration of thrombolytic therapy (also known as “tPA”). 

DNV GL Healthcare as Comprehensive Stroke Centers

Morton Plant Hospital (Clearwater) and St. Joseph’s Hospital (Tampa) received certification from DNV GL Healthcare as Comprehensive Stroke Centers, reflecting the highest level of competence for treatment of serious stroke events.

DNV GL Healthcare Primary Stroke Certification

The DNV GL Healthcare Primary Stroke Certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, and affirms the hospital’s readiness to handle a full-range of stroke-related medical problems and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.

DNV GL Healthcare Primary Stroke Certification Plus

Winter Haven Hospital received certification from DNV GL Healthcare as a Primary Stroke Center Plus (PSC+), reflecting their ability to meet the requirements of primary stroke programs in addition to being thrombectomy capable.

EPA ENERGY STAR Certification

Mease Dunedin and St. Anthony's Hospitals received the EPA's ENERGY STAR for superior energy efficiency. The hospitals were two of only 86 hospitals in the nation to initially receive this recognition. They are two of five hospitals certified in the State of Florida in 2013. 

HomeCare Elite

Each year only 25 percent of all home care agencies in the United States qualify to be considered as the most successful providers in the industry. Criteria for a successful provider includes quality of care, quality improvement, patient experience, process measure implementation and financial management. The following BayCare HomeCare offices were named to HomeCare Elite status in 2015: Dunedin, New Port Richey, Sarasota and Tampa.

• Mease Dunedin Hospital: Accredited in Adult Transthoracic; Adult Transesophageal
• Morton Plant Hospital: Accredited in Adult Transthoracic; Adult Transesophageal
• St. Joseph's Children's  Hospital: Accredited in Pediatric Transthoracic; Pediatric Transesophageal; Fetal (The children's hospital's non-invasive cardiology center is one of only a few in Florida to receive ICAEL accreditation in all three areas.)
