Electrophysiology is the study of diagnosing and treating irregular heart rhythms, or arrhythmias. Electrical activity in the heart is regulated by the heart’s natural pacemaker called the sinoatrial node. Abnormalities in these electrical impulses being sent through the heart can cause the heart to beat too slowly (bradycardia), too quickly (tachycardia), or irregularly (palpitations).
