BayCare Alliant Hospital is Joint Commission accredited and serves patients with ventilator weaning, wound care, infectious diseases, cardiovascular/pulmonary rehabilitation, complex medical and respiratory needs. Alliant specializes in offering the following therapy services to meet the needs of its patients.
Respiratory Therapy
Alliant Hospital's Respiratory Therapy Department is staffed 24 hours a day to attend to patients' respiratory needs. Alliant therapists are all licensed or registered respiratory therapists (RRTs), and skilled in meeting all respiratory care needs of the Alliant patient population. Specialized respiratory services include:
- ABG's (arterial blood gas monitoring)
- Assisting Pulmonologist with broncoscopies
- Bi-PAP and CPAP monitoring
- Chest percussion therapy
- Cough assist
- Decannulation
- Passy-Muir valve placement (speaking valve)
- Pulmonary hygiene and suctioning
- Tracheostomy care
- Ventilator care and maintenance
- Ventilator weaning
Attributable to the clinical expertise and acumen of this respiratory staff, Alliant is proud of its ventilator weaning success rate of 89.5 percent (2012), which exceeds national vent weaning rates.
Rehabilitation Therapy
Complementing the respiratory therapy department at Alliant is the rehabilitation therapy staff. The rehab staff is composed of licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists, committed to the concept of long term acute care, and the complexities of prolonged rehabilitation. The therapists at Alliant measure each patient's function (mobility/activities of daily living/range of motion/swallow ability etc) upon admission to the facility, and track progresses made through the entire hospitalization with Alliant's Outcomes Data program.
Nutritional Therapy
The dietary needs of a patient with a prolonged hospitalization are more complex than patients who are hospitalized in an acute care setting for a few days. The licensed nutritional therapy coordinators and dieticians at Alliant complement the therapy staff to ensure that caloric and special dietary needs are maintained over an extended stay.
Wound Care
Alliant Hospital provides Wound Care Services to all patients requiring special intervention for the treatment of wounds.
