Morton Plant Hospital's Joslin Center for Diabetes Welcomes New Endrocrinologist|
CLEARWATER, Fla. (April 15, 2004)---Dr. John B. Tourtelot recently joined the staff at Morton Plant Hospital's Joslin Center for Diabetes as an endocrinologist. He is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
"Dr. Tourtelot has a strong interest in thyroid disease management, including thyroid nodule evaluation, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and thyroid cancer," said Philip K. Beauchamp, president and chief executive officer, Morton Plant Mease Health Care. "He is in the process of establishing a comprehensive Thyroid Center at Morton Plant Hospital."
Before joining Morton Plant Hospital, Dr. Tourtelot spent the past six years as the senior medical officer at the Naval Clinic in Patuxent River, Md., as well as assistant professor of medicine at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacology from the Southern School of Pharmacy at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Tourtelot served his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif. and completed his fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
The Joslin Center for Diabetes at Morton Plant Hospital was established in 1991 and is located at 455 Pinellas Street in Clearwater. In 2002, the Joslin Center achieved provider recognition status from the American Diabetes Association (ADA), as well as the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
