Family Medicaid

You may be eligible for assistance through the Department of Children and Families if you are a Florida resident or intend to remain in Florida and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Child under 21 residing with parent(s) and not married
  • Pregnant
  • Custodial parent with the youngest child 17 or under
  • Grandparent with custody of minor children

Your household income and assets must meet specified criteria, which will vary by program. Your income may be high but you could still qualify for the share of cost program if you meet other criteria.

Adult Medicaid

You may be eligible for assistance through the Department of Children and Families if you are a Florida resident or intend to remain in Florida and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Expected disability for more than one year - must apply through the Social Security Administration
  • 65 or older, whether eligible for Medicare or not eligible for Medicare

Your household income and assets must meet specified criteria that will vary by program. Your income may be high but you could qualify for the share of cost program if you meet other criteria.

Special adult programs are available with unique criteria that include coverage for Medicare premiums, co-pays and deductibles, care at home, nursing home costs or Hospice services.

If you have a medical condition that is considered to be disabling for greater than 12 months, visit the Social Security Administration website or call 1-800-772-1213 to apply for benefits.
